Notifications to your phone and computer, and the bell
A pop-up for every appointment a customer books, even when Torly is closed.
Torly can tell you right away when a customer books an appointment, when an appointment is cancelled and when one ends, with a pop-up on your phone or computer, even when Torly isn’t open. Notifications are turned on for each device separately: to get them on your phone and your computer, do the steps on both. On an iPhone or iPad, first install Torly as an app.
- Step 1
Open the notification settings
Click My Profile (on a phone: the circle with the letter at the top of the screen), then Business Settings. Go to the Messages & SMS tab and choose Push Notifications.
- Step 2
Turn the notifications on
Click Turn on push notifications. The browser asks whether to allow notifications: allow them.
When everything works, the permission on this device reads Allowed.
TipTurned on notifications in the setup wizard? Then they already work on the device you started on. On any other device, allow them when the browser asks, or click Ask the browser for permission here.
NoteIf the permission is Blocked, the browser will not ask again. How to unblock it is in the common problems at the end of this guide.
- Step 3
Choose what to be notified about
Under the switch, choose what reaches you:
- Appointments customers booked: a customer booked an appointment themselves, for example on your booking site, or paid you online.
- Cancelled appointments: an appointment a customer booked was cancelled.
- The end of an appointment: an appointment ended, so you can check it out.
- New leads from the minisite: someone left their details in the contact form on your booking site.
- Step 4
Save
Scroll to the bottom of the tab and click Save Message Settings. Without saving, your choices are not kept.
- Step 5
Send a test notification
Click Send a test notification. Within a few seconds a notification reaches every device where you allowed notifications, and under the button you see how many devices it was sent to.
Nothing arrived? See the common problems at the end of this guide.
- Step 6
What the notifications say
Every notification says what happened, to whom and when. For example "New appointment 📅", with the customer’s name, the service, the day and the time under it.
- Tapping a new-appointment or cancellation notification opens the appointment’s details.
- Tapping an end-of-appointment notification opens the appointment, ready to check out.
- Notifications come in the language you chose for the system.
TipWhen your business’s SMS or WhatsApp balance is running low, you get a notification about it, whatever these settings say.
- Step 7
The bell: appointments customers booked
The bell at the top of the dashboard shows the appointments customers booked themselves, even with notifications off. The red number is how many you have not seen yet. Click the bell:
- Each appointment has a card: the customer, the service, the date and time, the amount and who is serving.
- Appointment Details opens the appointment. From the card you can also call the customer or write to them on WhatsApp.
- While Torly is open, a new booking comes with a sound. The speaker button at the top of the list mutes it.
Common problems
The permission says Blocked
The browser remembers that you refused, and will not ask again. On a computer or Android: click the icon beside the site’s address in the address bar, find "Notifications" and choose "Allow", then reload the page. On an iPhone or iPad: in the device’s Settings, under "Notifications", choose Torly and turn them on.
It says notifications are not available here
On an iPhone or iPad, notifications work only from the Torly app on your home screen, not from Safari: install Torly as an app, open it and turn them on there. On a computer or Android, open Torly in an up-to-date browser, such as Chrome, Edge or Safari.
I sent a test notification and nothing arrived
If it says it was sent to 0 devices, no device has allowed notifications: turn them on again. Otherwise, check that Do Not Disturb and Focus modes are off, and that your phone’s or computer’s settings let the browser show notifications. On a computer, the browser must be running, even in the background.
My staff do not get notifications
Notifications go to the devices signed in with the business owner’s account, and each of those devices allows notifications separately.
How do I stop notifications?
Turn off the kind you don’t want, or switch off Turn on push notifications to stop them all, then click Save Message Settings.
The bell shows appointments I have already seen
What you have seen is remembered in each browser separately. On a new phone or another browser, every appointment shows as new: open the bell once, and they are all marked as read.
